What is an AI Agent Operating Account?

Most AI agents today authenticate with ephemeral API keys or connect to external browser wallets. That works for demos, but agentic commerce needs something durable: an operating account the agent and user both trust across tasks, websites, and payment rails.

Identity beyond an API key

A CAI operating account starts with a real @cai.com email address — a public identity agents can use for mail, OTP onboarding, and website sign-in. Unlike a throwaway key, the account persists: balances, credentials, and payment history stay attached to the same user.

Wallet + vault in one place

Agents also get a custodial multi-chain wallet for stablecoin transfers and an encrypted credential vault for platform logins. Integration is machine-readable via skill.md, MCP, REST, and the A2A Agent Card.

Why it matters for developers

Standalone wallet SDKs solve on-chain transfers. Operating accounts solve the full loop: sign in, store secrets safely, check balances, confirm payees, and pay — under user control. See About and our FAQ for next steps, or Enroll now to create an account.
